Keeping Türkiye as the Preferred Choice Is Our Priority!

Strategic Advantages Through Collaboration with Chinese Companies in the BYD Ecosystem

The Automotive Suppliers Association of Türkiye (TAYSAD), representing over 530 members, is the leading voice of Türkiye’s automotive supply industry. The final member meeting of 2024 was successfully held with the participation of Ö. Volkan Ağar, Deputy Minister of Trade, and Fatih Ay, Secretary General of MESS, who delivered an insightful presentation to attendees. During the meeting, TAYSAD welcomed its new members, presenting certificates to companies that joined in 2024.

In his opening remarks, TAYSAD Chairman Albert Saydam highlighted global automotive production trends, noting, "Global automotive production surpassed 94 million units in 2023. While initial forecasts for 2024 anticipated 93 million units, the year is expected to close at 92 million units, reflecting a modest 1% decrease. The sharpest decline has been in Europe, Türkiye’s largest export market. European production dropped from 18.8 million units in 2023 to 17.6 million units this year. Similarly, after Türkiye’s record-breaking production of 1.57 million units in 2023, we are witnessing a decline to 1.45 million units in 2024. Notably, these projections have undergone significant revisions since the start of the year due to strong regional fluctuations. While production in Europe and global is expected to grow in 2025, it will likely remain below 2024 levels. For Türkiye, production is projected to decline further to 1.4 million units by 2025. On a positive note, despite these challenges, Türkiye has retained its position as the world’s 11th-largest automotive producer in 2024."

Chairman Saydam also underscored the strategic importance of BYD’s investment in Türkiye, stating, "BYD’s investmen in Türkiye represents a tremendous opportunity. We must do everything possible to accelerate this process. Facilitating this swiftly is our collective responsibility. To this end, we are organizing an event to connect our members with BYD. The company has already started visiting Turkish automotive supply firms and exploring opportunities in our country. I also suggest you to engage with Chinese companies supplying BYD. Collaborating with these firms could create a mutually advantageous ecosystem. Our ultimate goal remains clear: to ensure that Türkiye continues to be the first choice on the global stage."
